ICC World T20 Qualifiers - Tournament Manager - Ireland
The qualification tournament for the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup will take place in Ireland and Scotland in July 2015.
Cricket Ireland is seeking a Tournament Manager to work on the qualification matches in Ireland on a 12 month contract who will work closely with our Events Manager and the Cricket Scotland Tournament Manager to ensure that this event is executed to the world-class standards that our stakeholders demand.

Instonians Under 11 A beat CSNI Under 11 A on Thursday evening in a close fought match in the Charlie Beverland Under 11s League Division 1 Final.

McBrine spins Warriors to narrow win against Northern Knights
Andrew McBrine took 5 for 52 to spin his NW Warriors side to a hard fought 44 run win against The Northern Knights in their Newstalk Inter-Provincial clash at Eglinton. James McCollum (35) and James Cameron-Dow (18) had added a further 32 runs to the Knights overnight score of 152 for 5, reducing the runs required to just 85.

Robert Croft announced as Guest Speaker for NCU Annual Dinner
The NCU's Annual Dinner will be held on Saturday 11th October 2014 at 7.00pm in the Holiday Inn, Ormeau Avenue, Belfast. Guest Speaker will be former Glamorgan and England player Robert Croft.

Nominations for the 2014 / 2015 Youth Regional Development program
As yet only five clubs have returned their nominations for the 2014 / 2015 Youth Regional Development program.
Requests for nomination were sent to all club secretaries, youth convenors and the club youth coaches listed in the NCU book.

Honours even after second day of Inter-Provincial clash at Eglinton
It's honours even after an intriguing second day's play in the Newstalk Inter-Provincial Championship game between the North West Warriors and Northern Knights at Eglinton.
Chasing 269 for victory, the Knights are 152 for 5, with the Warriors claiming what could be the pivotal wicket of Nikolai Smith - a substitute batsman for the injured James Shannon - for a well played 46 in the penultimate over of the day.

Northern Cricket Union Development Tour to South Africa
Over the course of the season there has been much talk about the future of the game within the NCU.  As always the topic of youth cricket comes in for much debate, are the NCU doing the right things to bring the promising underage players through? The perceived wisdom is that over the last few years the standard of players being developed within the NCU is lagging behind their southern counterparts in Leinster.

Wickets tumble on first day of Inter-Provincial clash at Eglinton
An amazing 23 wickets tumbled on a bowler dominated first day of the Newstalk Inter-Provincial Championship clash between the North West Warriors and Northern Knights at Eglinton. While the pitch offered some assistance to the bowlers, it was nowhere near the minefield suggested by the scorecard. Too many batsmen demonstrated a lack of patience or the application necessary in the longer format of the game.

Four changes have been annonunced to the original Northern Knights Squad named last week for the game against North West Warriors in their 3 day Newstalk IP Championship from 26th-28th August at Eglinton CC.
Out are Craig Ervine, Lee Nelson, Robert McKinley and Stephen Bunting and in are Johnny Terrett, Andrew Forbes, James McCollum and Adam Dennison.

Kamtekar spins Carrickfergus to National Cup glory
Indrajeet Kamtekar spun Carrickfergus to an emphatic 120 run victory over Killyclooney in the final of the RSA National Cup at Downpatrick. The Indian professional took 5 for 26 as Killyclooney were dismissed for 107 chasing a Carrick total of 227 for 8.

Ulster Bank League Section 1 Update - 9th August 2014
Following a complete washout last weekend a full programme was completed last Saturday which eases the increasingly congested fixture list. There were wins for Bangor, Carrick, Derriaghy, Downpatrick & Lurgan which all meant that with Dundrum losing again they were confirmed as being relegated.

Belfast Under 14 Tour
Due to heavy rain which has flooded the Prestwick ground, and after exploring all possible alternatives, the organisers have decided, very reluctantly, to cancel this year's tournament.
The tournament was due to be held at Prestwick CC on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th August.

Charity Commission information sessions
Recent changes to legislation around charitable registration which may be applicable to sports clubs.
It is compulsory for all charities operating in Northern Ireland to apply for charity registration and the Commission is urging all charities to prepare now.  There are 12 descriptions of charitable purpose, which include the advancement of amateur sport therefore sports clubs may fall under this category.

The second of the season's Ulster Bank NCU Senior League awards will be held as detailed above and will cover the entire month of JULY, 2014.
As usual, they will be made to players in the four sections of the Senior League who have scored centuries, taken at least six wickets or performed a hat trick in a completed league match.

Dundrum CC Under 15s Undertake Their First Tour to Scotland
Dundrum Cricket Club took their Under 15 squad for the clubs first ever two day tour to Ayr in Scotland to play at Cambusdoon sports club. Cambusdoon hosts this month's Scotland v New Zealand one day 50 over games and has a superb wicket and fast outfield.
Dundrum Under 15 coach Jeff Maguire had organised one 40 over game for day 1 and one 30 over game for the following day with the tour emphasis on everyone getting a chance and retirements at 50.

Donaghadee Cricket Club Hold Their Annual Charity Game
Donaghadee Cricket Club held their annual charity game against a Belfast Telegraph Select XI, this year in aid of the NI Cancer Fund for Children.
Despite the atrocious rainfall that afternoon, the game got underway in glorious sunshine after only a half hour delay.

Major sponsorship deal boosts Northern Cricket Union hopes for inter-pro success
The Northern Knights, the Northern Cricket Union's (NCU) interprovincial team, has landed a major three-year sponsorship deal it was revealed today (Wednesday 2nd April).
The deal sees professional advisory firm PwC, sign up as the three-season gold sponsor, with additional sponsorship by Sunday Life, Connect Telecom and FSS (N.I.) Ltd.
The NCU is launching a new Northern Knights website (, backed by a social media campaign to support the interprovincial series and there’ll be a new fantasy cricket league competition in association with the Sunday Life.

NIACUS - Captain's Umpire Report 2014
The Irish Association of Cricket Umpires & Scorers (IACUS) in conjunction with Cricket Ireland are introducing a new all Ireland Umpire Grading Structure across the various Inter-provincial Unions. This will ultimately ensure one accepted Grading system against which all umpires will be assessed.
From the start of this season, NCU Club Captains will be able to electronically access the new umpire assessment form, which will be received automatically by the NIACUS Grading contact.

NCU Publish new Development Plan for 2014-18
The Northern Cricket Union (NCU) has published its new Development plan covering the years 2014-2018. In announcing its publication President Billy Boyd and Chairman Andy Clement commented that they hoped that, post publication, the new Development Plan will  provide fresh impetus for all those involved in NCU cricket.

Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) launches positive parental behaviour in sport toolkit
Parents often play a vital part in supporting their children to take part in sport.
They play many positive roles and are often the backbone of sports activities at a local level.
However many sports organisations and clubs have struggled to address the problem of poor parental/spectator behaviour in junior sport.

Junior Cricketers playing in Adult Matches
The NCU Development Directorate wish to remind clubs of the ECB guidance covering the participation of young cricketers in adult matches which can be found on page 112 of the 2013 Fixtures and Rule Book.
This guidance has been adopted by the Union.
Under 13 cricketers - Explicit written consent from a parent or guardian is required before participating in an adult match.
Under 11 cricketers - Explicit prior approval must be sought through me before the player can play.

Player Clothing 2014
Coloured clothing will be used in the following competitions:
Challenge Cup, Irish Senior Cup, National Trophy, Ulster Cup, Ulster Shield, Twenty20 Cup, Twenty20 Trophy.

Predominantly white clothing will be used in the following competitions:
All League Competitions, Junior, Intermediate, Minor and Minor Qualifying Cups, Ulster Plate, Twenty20 Shield.
