Clubs should check the fixtures carefully and notify Bryan Milford of any omissions as soon as possible.
Clubs in the Senior Leagues will note that they do not have home and away fixtures on alternate weeks. This is caused by several clubs not having the availability of their ground for the entire season, clubs groundsharing and clubs hosting cup finals and other fixtures.
NCU Coaches Association launch and workshop
On Tuesday the 25th of February, the NCU launched its newest programme, the NCU Coaches Association (NCUCA), with 35 coaches from 18 clubs in attendance. This programme has been set up in association with Cricket Ireland and is being run in conjunction with the Cricket Ireland Coaches Association (CICA), which means that you will receive dual membership between the NCUCA and the CICA. Sport Northern Ireland has launched its ‘Club Leaders’ programme, designed to support the development of business skills in local sports clubs. Coaching Certificate in Young People and Adults
Cricket Ireland has agreed to deliver a Coaching Certificate in Young People and Adults course (superseded the former ECB Level Two) in April/May 2014. This has been predominantly arranged to assist clubs who are contracting overseas players for the 2014 season to successfully achieve their qualification in line with the existing Governing Body Endorsement criteria. Busy Close Season for Youth Cricket in the NCU
In September all clubs were written to asking for nominations for the youth winter program. From the 18 clubs who responded, 134 children were nominated all of whom were invited to 6 sessions each.
Between mid October and Christmas a total of 33 x 2 hour sessions were held at the excellent facilities at the Ulster University Jordanstown. All sessions had either 3 or 4 coaches in attendance. Read more...
NCU holds coaching sessions for 7, 8 and 9 year olds
In a new venture the NCU this winter have organised coaching for boys from P4 and P5 who have been nominated by their clubs. The 20 boys who have been nominated are from 7 clubs and 12 different schools. Brian Walsh and Alan Waite from the NCU Representative Directorate have been delighted by the response and applaud the fact that so many clubs are already coaching boys from these age groups. NCU Regional Development Squads announced
The Northern Cricket Union's Representative Cricket Directorate have announced the Regional Development Squads for 2014. Following eleven weeks of extensive coaching and training sessions pre Christmas at the new cricket facilities at Jordanstown, the selectors have named the following squads to go forward over the next thirteen weeks. Monaghan and University of Ulster aiming for degrees of success in NCU
The Northern Cricket Union (NCU) recently announced that two new clubs, Monaghan Cricket Club and the University of Ulster Cricket Club (UUCC), will be taking part in NCU competitions in 2014.
The two new clubs are a welcome addition to the Union at a time when the more pessimistic cricket followers in the North believed that the sport is in decline.
The UUCC will be taking part in the mid week competition and timing couldn't be better for the University of Ulster who surely now have one of the best practice facilities in the Union. Read more...

The Northern Cricket Union (NCU) has announced that two new clubs have joined the Union plus five new teams will be participating in various competitions in the 2014 season.
The two new clubs, Monaghan Cricket Club and University of Ulster Cricket Club will join the Union for the first time with Monaghan joining Ulster Bank Senior League Section 3 and University of Ulster entering the Midweek League. Read more...
CIYMS CC and Waringstown CC achieve Club Accreditation Scheme Status
CIYMS CC and Waringstown CC have become the latest clubs in the Northern Cricket Union (NCU) to become accredited on the Cricket Ireland/Clubmark NI Club Accreditation Scheme.
Club accreditation status means the club have demonstrated the capacity to reach minimum operating standards in the areas of effective management, qualify coaching and competition and safety. Read more...

The NCU Development Directorate wish to remind clubs of the ECB guidance covering the participation of young cricketers in adult matches which can be found on page 112 of the 2013 Fixtures and Rule Book.
This guidance has been adopted by the Union.
Under 13 cricketers - Explicit written consent from a parent or guardian is required before participating in an adult match.
